Background
France Football is a magazine based in France that covers football, with a focus on European and world players. Its best-known role is choosing the Ballon d'Or, an award given each year to the top player in the world. The magazine publishes the list of nominees and runs the voting that decides the winner.
The Women's Ballon d'Or is the women's version of this award, and the magazine selects its winner as well. Sources on this page confirm that the 2026 ceremony takes place in London and that the magazine chose 30 nominees. One nominee, Scarlett Camberos of Mexico's América club, is the first Mexican player to be named among the 30. Eleven of the 30 nominees play in England's women's top league.
The award is in the news because of the London ceremony and the nominee list. A British broadcaster has asked whether anyone can stop Alexia Putellas from winning, and coverage has also looked at how the voting works. Readers searching for France Football's games, teams, jerseys or leagues should note that the magazine is a publication and award body, not a club or sports team.
