The background

NEW YORK, Oct. 28 — Tom Brady, the former NFL quarterback, has reportedly been dating supermodel Candice Swanepoel. The relationship became public over a weekend, and a report said it had been going on for a while, since earlier in the summer.

Reports also say the relationship has caused tension with Joan Smalls, a Victoria's Secret model and a longtime friend of Swanepoel. One report said Smalls had previously been linked to Brady. Some social media users said Swanepoel had broken an unwritten code among models by dating Brady, who was previously married to Gisele Bündchen, another Victoria's Secret model. The reported feud has not been confirmed.
